CSK might not retain Raina for IPL 2021: Reports
Suresh Raina is the leading run-scorer for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. He is also the only cricketer from CSK to have scored 5368 runs. He scored a century and 38 fifties to his name. The southpaw entertained the fans at the best scene by striking the balls in excess of 137.14.
On 15th August 2020, Raina and Dhoni announced their retirement from international cricket. Raina played for India in 226 ODIs and 78 T20Is scoring 5615 runs in ODIs and 1604 runs in T20Is.
Raina pulled out of the 13th edition of the IPL citing personal reasons. Just days ahead of the 2020 IPL season, there were reports that Raina had a rift with MS Dhoni. However, there was no clarity from the matter as things happened behind the scenes.
CSK also removed Raina’s name from its official website which further fuelled speculations that Raina has already played his last game for the yellow brigade. However, a top CSK official confirmed that CSK hasn’t parted ways with Raina.
He also guaranteed that the southpaw will surely play for the franchise in the next season. However, a recent report suggested that CSK might not consider retaining Raina for the next IPL.
CSK might not retain Raina: Reports
If reports doing the rounds are to be believed then, CSK might not retain Suresh Raina for the upcoming auction. With the upcoming IPL auctions just around the corner, it will be interesting to see if Raina will turn out for CSK, or don a new IPL jersey.
“CSK has to take a big call on Raina. No doubt he has contributed a lot to CSK’s success in past. As the team is revamping itself to pay or block 11Cr from 85 Cr total pay-purse is something which may pinch the yellow army. That is the reason they are deliberating hard on the same,” said the source as quoted by Times Now.
