CWAB takes implausible initiative to help fighting coronavirus

The top 27 cricketers of the country have made a ‘fund’ to help the helpless people caused by coronavirus fear. Many cricketers are helping individually. This time, Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) has come forward to stand beside the poor and helpless people facing uncertainty due to coronavirus.

According to the statement signed my organization’s General Secretary, Debabrata Paul, a fund is being formed in a joint effort of current and former cricketers, cricket organizers and all cricket fans living in and outside the country. This fund will be spent for poor and helpless people.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon has been appointed as the advisory committee head of the program. The Advisory Committee also includes former two cricketers- Tanvir Mazhar Islam Tanna and Enayet Hossain Siraj and BCB director Ahmed Sajjadul Alam Bobby.

In order to make the CWAB’s initiative a success, a convening committee has been convened calling on the President and former captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team, Naimur Rahman Durjoy. Another former captain and Vice-President of the CWAB, Khaled Mahmud Sujan, current ODI captain Tamim Iqbal and current Test captain Mominul Haque are the joint conveners of the convening committee.

Apart from Debabrata Paul, Rakibul Hasan, Akram Khan, Minhajul Abedin Nannu, Habibul Bashar,  Iftekhar Rahman Mithu,  Ziauddin Ahmed Shovon, GM Faisal Hussain Robin, AKM Ahsanullah Hasan, Nafees Iqbal, Rajin Saleh and Tushar Imran are also the members of the convening committee.

The statement read:

“Under the direction of the Advisory Committee, the convening committee will carry out this support program of CWAB at all the divisions, districts and upazila levels, including the capital Dhaka.

“CWAB also thanks all the current and former cricketers who have already come forward with financial help for the helpless people. CWAB feels that it is important not only to raise funds, but also to ensure balances support to poor and helpless people.”
