Dananjaya to miss third Test after reported suspect action

Sri Lankan spinner Akila Dananjaya is set to miss the third Test against England as he has to o undergo an official bowling action assessment in Brisbane after being reported for suspect action during the series opener in Galle.


Dananjaya is required to undergo testing within the next 14 days. Although, as per regulations of the International Cricket Council (ICC),  the reported bowler is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the tests are known.

Despite being report in the first Test, Dananjaya played in the second Test and also picked up his  career-best figures of 6 for 115 in England’s second innings.

Sri Lanka head coach Chandika Hathurusingha confirmed the unavailability of Dananjaya after the end of the second Test match in the post match press conference.

“Unfortunately he’s not available, because he has to go and do the testing within 14 days. He’s going to Brisbane on the 20th or something, to do the test on the 23rd, so he’s not available,” he said.

The third and the last Test will begin on 23rd November at SSC Colombo. However, Sri Lanka have nothing to fight for except of earning a consolation win as they have already lost the series with England 2-0 up.
