Injury has been a great obstacle for Mitchell Marsh since the start of his career. He has been in and out of the national team due to fitness problem. He was in great shape and started off the IPL season with Hyderabad in their first game until he suffered an injury again while bowling.

Marsh suffered an ankle injury and reports revealed that a “moderate- to high-grade syndesmosis injury” in his right ankle was spotted. It is still a doubt whether he needs surgery on his ankle and it will be assessed once he’s out of hotel quarantine in Perth.

The all-rounder wasn’t named in the Western Australia squad for the first four rounds of the Sheffield Shield and the club informed that Marsh will meet with a specialist after the quarantine period and a decision will be taken after that.

“A specialist will further assess Mitch’s ankle once he is out of hotel quarantine next Saturday (October 10) to determine if surgery or non-surgical management is required. Return to play timelines will be mapped out once he has completed quarantine and met with the specialist,” a release from Western Australia stated.

Meanwhile, Shaun Marsh is set to become the first man to represent Western Australia across 20 domestic seasons when the side takes on South Australia in the season-opener at Karen Rolton Oval.
