Deepak is similar to Bhuvi: Kohli
Indian skipper Virat Kohli is well aware of the fact that youngsters are grooming quite well under his leadership skills. He is always there to help them out so much so that these bright young prospects would take Indian cricket to a whole new level in the future by building a better career for themselves.
However, it is important for the young players to be in the space so that they could pick up the much-needed knowledge from experienced players whom they rub shoulders in the dressing room.
Indian captain Virat Kohli who praised Rishabh Pant for his stupendous knock against West Indies in the third T20I fixture has praised young seamer Deepak Chahar. The latter shot into fame when he took the Indian dressing room by surprise by picking 3/4 in his first spell itself.
Impressed by his terrific performance, Virat Kohli compared him to senior pro Bhuvneswar Kumar.
“Deepak is similar to Bhuvi. With the new ball, Deepak’s skill is up there with Bhuvi. Bhuvi, however, has more experience at th death. Swing has been his (Deepak) USP in the IPL too. He is really lethal with the new ball – puts the batsmen in real trouble,” Kohli praised Deepak.
“It was a clinical performance. We wanted to try out players but priority was to win games. Deepak was great, Bhuvi professional as always. The wicket over here was much better than the one in Miami. West Indies got to a decent total because of the wicket, but we were professional with both ball and bat,” the skipper added.
The skipper expected the side to be competitive in the ODIs and Tests too.
“We want to be as professional as possible in the ODIs and Tests. We want results, to win games of cricket. The Windies ODI team is even stronger, so it will be hard work, but we will try to have fun as a team for a month,” Kohli concluded.
