Dhaka will be under pressure against Khulna: Sujon
Dhaka Dynamites and Khulna Titans, the top two teams so far in this season’s AKS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), will lock horns with each other in the first playoff of the tournament on Tuesday. But ahead of the all important match, Dhaka coach Khaled Mahmud Sujon conceded that they will need to conquer the psychological pressure while playing against Khulna yet another time because of the fact that they lost to the Titans in both the matches of the first round.
“We have lost two matches against them. So if you think rationally, we will be under more pressure. But we will also be relaxed because we will get two shots for a place in the final. Even if we lose in the game against Khulna, we will get another chance. But of course we will look to win in the very first attempt,” said Sujon.
Khulna captain Mahmudullah Riyad has so far been one of the finest performers in this BPL, and it is mostly because of him that the Titans have qualified to the playoffs being among the top two teams despite not having a strong squad. Mahmudullah’s heroics rescued the Titans many a times, and quite obviously Sujon was full of praise for the former Bangladesh vice captain.
“I cannot say Khulna as a team is very easy to battle against. Because this is a team led by someone like Mahmudullah Riyad. He is leading the team by example, and you have seen how good he has been performing of late. Apart from him, there are several other members in his troops who have the ability to win a game for the team,” added Sujon.
However, Sujon is also keeping full faith in his own team. “We have a very good team, a balanced side. But now at this stage of the tournament, we can not afford to take anything for granted. We have to play well and show our full potential on the field, otherwise we will not be worth of the ultimate success.”
