The left-handed opener did not come out to bat after undergoing scans and KL Rahul opened the batting alongside Rohit Sharma. Shikhar had dived in order to save a run in the cover hit by Aaron Finch.

But, Dhawan’s dive did not come out well as he hurt his shoulder at the worst scene. After he left the field, there were widespread speculations that he would be a doubtful starter for the New Zealand tour.

However, it has now been confirmed that he has been ruled out of New Zealand. Dhawan won’t be travelling with the squad to New Zealand due to a shoulder issue as per Mumbai Mirror.

BCCI is likely to confirm the news later today and might also come up with Dhawan’s replacement.

It is going to be a hectic tour for India as they will play five T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests in New Zealand. The series kicks off with the first T20I which is scheduled to be played on January 24 at Eden Park in Auckland.
