Dhoni pulls off last-ball victory
Rising Pune Supergiants have entreated a tremendous win in the last ball of the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 24th match of the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). At the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, the home team eclipsed the total of Sunrisers losing 6 wickets.
When two runs needed in the final delivery of match, Mahendra Singh Dhoni squashed S Kaul through the extra – cover region for a four perpetuated his enigma as a vibrant finisher once again.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s painful journey in this season’s IPL has come to an end with a wonderful unbeaten knock of 61 runs with exquisite shots of fours and sixes. Playing 34 balls, Dhoni hit 5 fours and 3 sixes.
The target of 176 runs was bit stiff for the Rising Pune Supergiants and the beginning was also not good for the chasers. Opener Ajinkya Rahane was caught by Kaul off Bipul Sharma in the first delivery of the fourth over but his partner R Tripathi made the second highest score for the team.
59 runs he added in the team total in 41 deliveries; the innings was, however, filled with 6 shots of four and 3 sixes as well.
Rising Pune Supergiants middle order including Captain Steven Smith could not procure much in the middle but it was camouflaged by the former captain of RPS Mahendra Singh Dhoni who stick to one end to lead the team towards the satisfactory victory.
Early in the afternoon, Rising Pune Supergiants’ captain Steve Smith won the toss and sent the defending champion to bat first.

Warner and Dhawan put the innings in a good appearance but they were rather quiet taking eight overs to score 55 runs before Shikhar Dhawan became the victim of Imran Tahir. He scored 30 off 29.
Sunrisers Hyderabad lost only 3 wickets while scoring 176 runs. Ken Williamson and David Warner added 29 in the second wicket partnership. The Kiwi hitter departed in the thirteenth over when the team score stood at 84.
A quick fire 55 runs by Moises Henriques in 28 balls helped Sunrisers Hyderabad to amount a significant score at the end. Warner was bowled by Unadkat as the last batsman to lose for the defending champions. Captain David Warner’s 43 came off 40 with 3 fours and a six.
