Dhoni to be retained by CSK in IPL 2021 auction
There may be thousands questions over Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s international career with Team India, but one thing is for sure that he is going to play for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021 as well. It has been confirmed by none other than the CSK owner N Srinivasan.
Dhoni has been an integral part of CSK from the very beginning of the cash-rich T20 league, and under his captaincy the Men in Yellow have made it to the playoffs every year.
It is beyong any doubt how important Dhoni is for the CSK set-up, and now Srinivasan confirms that he will not only be in the mega auction for the IPL 2021, but will be retained by CSK as well.
“MS Dhoni will play this year. And next year he will be in the auction and he will be retained,” Srinivasan said in a recent event.
Currently the former World Cup-winning India captain Dhoni earns a whopping Rs 15 crore every season. But with the aga not on his side, the Chennai franchise seems to be planning to release him and retain his services at a lesser price.
Earlier it was reported in November last year that Dhoni was open to the prospect of going back into the auction pool so that CSK can get him back at a lower price.
“There will be a big auction before the 2021 IPL and Dhoni has told us that he will play the tournament. So, there’s no question of his retirement from the T20 version anytime soon,” a CSK source had said at that time.
Dhoni will perhaps say goodbye to the game after IPL 2021.
