‘Didn’t have mustache when I was dropped’
All-rounder Nasir Hossain has made fun with the journalists during the press conference on Sunday. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ “তখন গোঁফ ছিল না , এখন গোঁফ আছে”]
Nasir returned to the Test squad after a gap of two years. He has played 17 Tests for Bangladesh so far. He has been in an in-and-out process in all formats in last three years. He was not picked in the Champions Trophy squad but his fans will now be happy to see him in the Test squad against Australia.
The right-handed batsman and right-arm off-spinner attented the press conference in Mirpur. He started with a joke. When he was asked about his difference before getting dropped and after getting dropped, he replied in this fashion: “Nasir didn’t have mustache when he was dropped, now he has.”
The journalists present laughed out at his comment. Nasir then answered in serious mind, “Not much difference. I was dropped… It is normal that a player will be dropped if he doesn’t play well. And it is also true that there is possibility of returning if he plays well. I tried to play well when I was dropped. There were a lot of mistakes in my career. I could’ve played bigger innings. I was a bit casual. Now I try to stay at the crease as long as I can.”
Nasir made 528 runs in nine first-class matches last season including a double century in the NCL.
Just before leaving the press conference, Nasir made another fun. Looking at the phones of the journalists for recording, he said, “There is not even a good mobile phone that I will take away.” He left the press conference laughing.
