Domingo expects cricketers to be frank with him
Head coach of Bangladesh national cricket team, Russell Domingo has said that he is expecting cricketers to be frank with him regarding mental health.
The socio-culture in Bangladesh is bit different than to the culture of the other cricketing nations such as Australia, England, or New Zealand. In the past, many cricketers from those nations openly admitted to having grappled with mental health problems. But because of a different culture, Bangladesh players never usually open up about mental issues as such things are still considered a taboo in the country.
However, Domingo thinks it is important that the cricketers share and open about these things if they face any difficulties. “Regarding mental fatigue, I think it’s something players need to be honest and open about,” Domingo was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Meanwhile, the South African revealed they were trying to create a friendly environment while admitting the fact that every player would not be comfortable “Not all players will be comfortable to talk about those aspects, but we want to create an environment wherein our team, our players can openly talk about how they are feeling and whether they need a break, and whether it’s mental or physical, we have got to respect that because it’s an important aspect to the game,” he concluded.
