Dowry case filed against Sunny

A day after his arrest over a case under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act, Bangladesh national team cricketer Arafat Sunny has been sued under the Dowry Prohibition Act. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ আরাফাত সানির বিরুদ্ধে আরো একটি মামলা]

The woman who had earlier claimed herself as the wife of Sunny, lodged the case against the cricketer and his mother with Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court on Monday. The case was filed alleging the duo demanded Tk 20 lakh as dowry.

Plaintiff’s lawyer, Rafiqul, said, after hearing the complaint, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Raihan Ahmed summoned the cricketer to appear before it on April 5 for hearing in the case.

Earlier, in the morning, Arafat Sunny denied the allegation of cyber harassment and being married to the plaintiff woman. He did not send any private photos of the woman through Facebook messenger, he said while being interrogated by the police.

Left-arm spinner Sunny played 16 one-day internationals and 10 Twenty20 internationals for Bangladesh to take 24 and 12 wickets respectively.
