Dwayne Bravo ruled out of IPL 2020 with groin injury
The problems don’t seem to be ending for Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL). After the left-hander Suresh Raina left the franchise due to personal issues, now West Indies’ Dwayne Bravo will be unavailable for the remaining games.
The CEO of CSK, Kasi Viswanathan speaking to ANI, said that Bravo will not participate in the rest of the tournament and will fly back to home to take the treatment for an injury which he suffered during the game against Delhi Capitals.
“No, Bravo isn’t playing any more part this time around and the groin injury has ruled him out. He will be flying back in a day or two,” the CEO said.
“Undoubtedly Raina and Harbhajan are both vital cogs in the CSK unit and they were missed. But you have to respect personal decisions and that is how we function irrespective of whether it is a senior or junior player,” he explained.
With Dwayne Bravo is no part of this IPL, the skipper of Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni should bring the last year’s purple cap holder, Imran Tahir. The leggie who could win games single-handedly for his team has not played a single game this season.
As the four overseas slots were filled with Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Sam Curran and Dwayne Bravo, the former South African cricketer could not make it to the playing eleven this season.
In the absence of Imran Tahir, the skipper had to go with Piyush Chawla and Karn Sharma to fulfil the shoes of Tahir. However, Chawla and Karn have not been impressive as they are leaking too many runs.
Chennai Super Kings, one of the most successful teams in the history of IPL, has failed to click as a team and will not reach the playoffs this time. They will next play against the in-form Mumbai Indians on 23rd October.
