Facebook partners with ICC
World’s leading social media platform Facebook has made a partnership deal with world cricket’s governing body International Cricket Council (ICC).
As per the partnership, sporting stars from around the world will feature in a new video series, #BreakingBoundaries.
The series was unveiled on Wednesday by Facebook in partnership with the ICC.
Key global figures will convey messages in the series, sharing their moments of resilence, and how they became successful in overcoming adversity.
The series kicks off with cricket legend Steve Waugh and Australia captain Meg Lanning today (February 26), as they reveal moments that defined their careers to inspire women to get into sport and encourages people all over the world to support female athleticism.
The series will also feature the likes of Billie Jean King and Brett Lee.New videos will be available each day and can be viewed on Facebook and Instagram.
Interestingly, the series coincides with the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020, which for the first time is being held in Australia. ICC is expecting that the final of the tournament will set a new world record for attendance at a women’s sporting fixture. The current record crowd of 90,185 was set at the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup final in Pasadena, California.
The final of the Women’s T20 World Cup will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on March 8, the International Women’s Day. The ICC is currently running a campaign, #FillTheMCG.
