With turbo charged fiery fast bowling resources unleashed and universal boss CH Gayle in full flow once impregnable West Indies got off to flying start pulverizing awful looking Pakistan to pulp. It required only 21.4 overs for wrapping Pakistan for 105 all out . In response West Indies raced to 108/3 in only 12.3 Overs led by yet another tornado surge of Gayle the hail. West Indies won by 7 wickets leaving Pakistan leaking their wounds .

Neither West Indies nor Pakistan is rated in the tournament being 8th and 9th in the current ICC ODI ranking. They are not discussed in the same bracket as Australia, England, India , New Zealand , South Africa these days . But then the match of the two former champions of the world was expected producing a blockbuster.

But West Indies winning the toss and opting to bowl unleashed barrage of fast lifting deliveries aimed at rib cage of Pakistan batsmen. Unfortunately the shell shocked Pakistan shadow of their past golden days had no skills or temperament . They fell like pack of cards and could master only 105 their second lowest world cup score in 21.4 overs . Only four- Babar Azam ( 22) , Fakhar Zaman (22) , Wahab Riaz ( 18 ) and Mohammad Hafiz ( 16) could reach double figures . O Tomas ( 4/27) JO Holder (3/42)and Ad Russell (2/4) inflicted damage and rubbed insult to Pakistan batting pride. The rest 7 batsmen together contributed only 22 . It was only pavilion directed one side traffic when Pakistan batted.

West Indies in reply did not waste time as Universal Boss unleashed his hail storm. In great mood he raced to 50 in 34 deliveries strking 6 fours and 2 massive sixes . He eclipsed the 36 over boundary world cup record of South African maestro AB de Villiers . Gayle along with de Villiers and Ricky Ponting are three players scoring 30 or more sixes in World Cup cricket.

He is such a players who stands and delivers not requiring running too many singles or converting one to two. Bandwagons of explosive power hitters in the team have given him the license . Nicholas Puran another high quality stroke maker blooming from the bud remained not out scoring 34 . West Indies won huge by 7 wickets in only 12.3 overs .

As far as Pakistan is concerned it was not end of their world. Great Amir bowled at hostile pace and accuracy taking all three wickets for 26 runs. It could be different story who knows if Pakistan bowled first. West Indies and Pakistan are both very unpredictable teams. One day sun shines brightly for them, the other day it is all devils darkness. Pakistan has records of fighting out with back to the wall. Who can forget what Imran Khan’s Cornered Tigers did. But there is no doubt West Indies staked a  strong claim for the top four.
