Fit Taijul gathers inspiration from Caribbean tour

Taijul Islam is flying to South Africa soon as part of the Bangladesh A team. This is going to be the first tour abroad for the young spinner with the second string Bangladesh side. And also didn’t he ever go to South Africa. Consequently it is going to be an all-new experience for Taijul. But as always, the Tigers spinner sounded quite confident ahead of the tour. He also said that he is physically much fit right now.
“I am much better now. I have been practising for last three days. I have also took part in a NCL game. Overall my physical condition is quite satisfactory at the moment. I am also feeling good from inside,” said the spinner who suffered from Jaundice a few days ago.
And despite knowing the fact that the pitches in South Africa are not that spin friendly, Taijul aims to make an exception as he takes inspiration from the West Indies tour that he made last year for the national team. In that tour, Taijul took 8 wickets from just two Tests.
“Maybe it’s a negative thing for me that I had never been in South Africa before. Still I had the experience of doing well on the bouncy pitches of West Indies. I am getting inspiration from that. If I can place the ball in the proper area, it will be possible to find success in any kind of wicket.”
There is more competition in the team at the moment among the spinners. Taijul admitted it as a great challenge but also added that performance is the key to overcome such challenges.
“Whether it’s the national team or the A team, there is challenge everywhere. But if you can perform accordingly, it’s never going to be a problem to keep yourself within the team,” Taijul opined.
