Four fast bowlers rested for BCL third round
The bowlers are Rubel Hossain, Al-Amin Hossain, Ebadot Hossain and Abu Jayed, who are in the Test squad against Pakistan and Zimbabwe.
Apart from that, the board has also given the batsmen the option to sit the round out.
Only three players who were in the squad that played in Pakistan will be playing in the final round of BCL. They are Saif Hassan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Nayeem Hasan.
The move is in order to decrease the workload from the senior cricketers, whose recent performances have become a matter of great concern for the board.
While Bangladesh senior team lost the three-match T20I series against Pakistan by 2-0, they also conceded a shameful defeat in the first Test.
Now their next international assignment is a home series against Zimbabwe, which will include a solitary Test, three ODIs and two T20Is. And this home series will be followed by the third phase of the Pakistan tour, where the Tigers will play another Test alongside a lone ODI.
National selector Habibul Bashar informed on Thursday that the camp for the Zimbabwe series will begin on February 18, with the third round of BCL is scheduled to end on 17. So there will be very little time in-between, and hence the rest is given to the fast bowlers.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin and Mehidy Hasan Miraz are set to be back in action after a long break due to injury. Mushfiqur Rahim, who opted out of the Pakistan Test, will also play for North Zone.
In the third round of BCL, North Zone will take on Islami Bank East Zone in this round of BCL while Central Zone will take on BCB South Zone with both the game will take place in Cox’s Bazar.
