Franchises ask PCB to move PSL 2021 from Karachi to UAE
Franchise-based T20 league Pakistan Super League (PSL) was suspended after a few matches last March due to coronavirus. But later, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the remaining matches were rescheduled to start on June 2, 2021 with all matches to be held in Karachi.
All six Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have asked the PCB to move the remaining games of the rescheduled 2021 edition of the tournament out of Karachi to the UAE because of some new Covid-19 cases in Pakistan.
Last week, a letter was sent to the PCB on behalf of six PSL franchises. Where it was written, after reviewing the current situation in Pakistan, the rest of the PSL matches should be played in the United Arab Emirates. The PCB also said it would consider the matter.
PSL is scheduled to start again from June 1. It will continue till June 14. The play-off matches are scheduled for June 16-18 and the final is scheduled for June 20. On May 23, the players will be supposed to join different teams of PSL. Everyone must have to go under seven-day quarantine according to the rules.
Earlier, after 14 matches, PSL had to be stopped for coronavirus. There were 14 matches between February 20 and March 3. The tournament was then postponed as players, support staffs continued to be affected with coronavirus.
