Ruturaj Gaikwad is turning out to be one of the rising stars in the present era. He hogged the limelight when he finished as the leading run scorer in the IPL 2021 season. The right-handed batter also went on to win the Orange Cap.
He registered his personal best score of 99 and ended up as the leading run-scorer for CSK in the last season. The 25-year-old has opened up that the pitches in IPL 2022 were bowler-friendly.
The conditions were tailor-made for the bowlers as it helped them generate turn and swing. The Maharashtra-born further added that he was dismissed for good deliveries in a few matches where the balls went straight in the fielders.
As a result, he departed for cheap scores. Needless to say, the opening batter further added that it is all part of the T20 game as there will be some bad days at the office. He also stressed the fact that it is more important to remain consistent mentally which is the ultimate key to success.
It is all about trusting your process: Ruturaj Gaikwad
“I think in the IPL in 2-3 games I got out to good balls where some dismissals you know good shots went into the fielder’s hand. I think that is part of T20 cricket, you won’t have your days every day, you will have off days. It is just a matter of staying consistent mentally and trusting your process,” said Gaikwad in a press conference.
“In the IPL, the wickets were slightly I would say, bowler-friendly because there was not much, I would say flat wicket, two-paced wickets, the ball was turning, there was some swing and all," he further added.
Gaikwad played exceptionally well during the third T20I against Proteas. He scored 57 off 35 balls with the help of seven boundaries and two sixes.
