Ganguly deems Kohli’s captaincy is yet to be tested

Ganguly deems Kohli's captaincy is yet to be tested India captain Virat Kohli led his team to the biggest away win in the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle, but former skipper Sourav Ganguly believes Kohli’s captaincy is yet to be tested.

One of the most successful captains of India, Ganguly judges the performance in the conditions of Australia, England and South Africa is the benchmark to assess the standard of any team.

Talking to India Today, Ganguly said, “India are perfectly balanced with so much firepower in the batting, bowling and fielding. The last two years they have been wonderful, especially away from home.”

“They won everything in the West Indies under Anil and then came the home season. I feel that India won’t be challenged in these conditions. Kohli is absolutely right when he said in the post-match ceremony that they have been clinical in their performance,” he continued.

“Virat hasn’t been tested yet. Sri Lanka is probably not the strongest Test side at the moment. For me, the fans as well as for Virat Kohli himself, the yardstick will be how well his side performs in South Africa, Australia and England,” Sourav Ganguly noted.

Since the taking over of captaincy from Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli has won ten Test matches and lost two. He has five draws in total so far.
