Gautam Gambhir slams Virat Kohli for 'immature' behavior
Gautam Gambhir criticized Virat Kohli's behavior, saying that he will never be an ideal for youngsters with such escapades.
Gambhir highlighted how good Kohli was in the first innings when he got a 50-50 call for chasing and Mayank was similarly given a fashion.
Veteran opener Gautam Gambhir lashed out at India Test captain Virat Kohli, calling him immature for his remark to broadcasters after a controversial DRS call. In the third session of Day 3, Kohli and his teammates lost their cool after Proteas skipper Dean Elgar received a massive pardon over a controversial DRS decision.
Going close to the stump mic, Kohli said, "Concentrate on your team too, not just on the opposition. I try to catch people all the time."
Gambhir said when speaking about : “Kohli is very immature. It's the worst thing for an Indian captain to say something like that in stumps. This way you will never be an idol for teenagers. In the first innings when you got a 50-50 call you were quiet and also in Mayank appeal. Aside from Kohli, other Indian players also lost their cool on the DRS call and made some sharp comments on the field.
Ashwin also couldn't help but elaborate on the broadcaster's ball-tracking technology, saying, "They should find better ways to win Super sport."
KL Rahul went in a different direction when he said: "The whole country is playing against XI people."
At the end of Day 3, South African pacer Lungi Ngidi shared his views on the controversy, saying the Indians were clearly "frustrated and under pressure" as a controversial DRS call saved Skipper Elgar.
“Focus on your team while they make the ball shine. Not just the opponent. Try to catch people all the time," Kohli was heard saying over the stump mic after Elgar received another try at the kink. "You should find better ways to win, SuperSport," Ashwin said while blowing up the home broadcaster (SuperSport). KL Rahul was heard saying, "It's the whole country against 11 boys".
The incident happened after an Ashwin delivery hit Elgar on the pads. South Africa was batting 60/1 back then. The Indian camp were desperate for a wicket when the referee's decision was reversed on the field in favor of the hosts. At that moment, Kohli and his teammates got angry and started slamming the transmitter on the blunt mic. Kohli's behavior has been condemned by a number of former cricketers and analysts on social media, including supporters of the India team.
South Africa will resume their quest for 111 runs on Day 4 of the third friendly in Cape Town. India, on the other hand, needs 8 more wickets to win the series and write another story on foreign soil.
