Gautam Gambhir takes a dig at ESPNcricinfo’s World Cup tweet
Former Indian left-handed batsman Gautam Gambhir posted a controversial tweet, quoting the tweet posted by ESPNcricinfo, cherishing India’s World Cup winning moment in 2011.
On April 2nd, 2011 India ended their 28 years drought for a World Cup win in 50 overs format of the game. The all-around effort from the team helped the nation to end their long wait for the historic moment.
It was the Indian skipper MS Dhoni who had the last hit in the special moment as he hit the ball for a six of Nuwan Kulasekara’s delivery to ensure the win for India. In the commentary box, Ravi Shastri cheered, “Dhoni finishes off in style..”
Gambhir posts a controversial tweet:
On the anniversary of India’s famous World Cup win, one of the leading cricket websites, ESPNcricinfo poster a nostalgic tweet remembering the final moment in the special moment with the picture of MS Dhoni hitting the final six.
Meanwhile, the former Indian left handed batsman Gautam Gambhir posted a controversial tweet quoting the post by website and he said that it was completely a team effort and not by that one six. Hus tweet has created controversy in Social media.
“Just a reminder @ESPNcricinfo: #worldcup2011 was won by entire India, entire Indian team & all support staff. High time you hit your obsession for a SIX,” quoted the former batsman. Gambhir scored a match winning 97 runs in the final.
