Gayle to play in EPL
Nepal’s domestic T20 tournament, Everest Premier League (EPL) will begin on February 29. This year is going to be the fourth season of the tournament. T20 superstar and West Indies legend Chris Gayle will play in the tournament for the first time.
In a video on his own Twitter, Gayle said,
“I will be visiting Nepal for the biggest sporting event, the Everest Premier League. Come and support my team Pokhara Rhinos and be part of a magnificent cricket fiesta.”
After returning from a hamstring injury, Gayle played for the Chattogram Challengers in the second half of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) last month. After missing the first few matches, he played 4 matches in the second half and made 144 runs. Earlier, he also took part in the latest edition of the Mzansi Super League in South Africa.
Gayle announced his retirement from cricket at the end of the 2019. Even before the ODI series against India, it was informed by the West Indies national selectors that he was not returning to the field. After that, Gayle also announced his decision not to play in this year’s BPL. Although he returned later from that decision.
40-year old Gayle informed in talks with media during BPL that he would play T20s several more years. But he was not seen in the home series against Ireland. The selectors said the door was open for him in the upcoming T20I World Cup squad.
