After a successful Caribbean tour, India are all set to South Africa in a long home season. The home series will begin with the T20I series which will start on September 15.

Following that India will continue their ICC Test Championship with the three-match Test series against South Africa which will be the tournament opener for South Africa in the ICC Test Championship.

As the fans expected, Shubman Gill has earned his maiden Test call-up to the Indian Test team. He might be the new opener for the team as KL Rahul has been dropped from the Test squad after continuous failures.

According to the recent statements from Indian chief selector, Rohit Sharma might be the new opener for India replacing KL Rahul. So Shubman Gill may be considered as a backup opener in the squad.

Hardik Pandya who missed the Caribbean tour due to injury concerns will miss this Test series too. Except for those changes, the squad remains the same that toured West Indies last month.

India’s squad for 3 Tests:
Virat Kohli (Capt), Mayank Agarwal, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (vc), Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wk),Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Shubman Gill
