‘Gillespie could have been a great India coach’

'Gillespie could have been a great India coach'Former Australian pace bowler Jason Gillespie who had applied for the job of India’s head coach but was not considered, could be the great option to guide India, remarked his fellow Aussie pacer Ryan Harris.

Harris said, “Jason Gillespie would have been a fantastic coach for India. I have worked with him and played with him. From my experience, he would have been great in that role.”

The 42 year old has now been appointed as the interim head coach of Papua New Guinea, has been impressive track record as a coach. He guided Yorkshire to back to back county championship in 2014 and 2015. Gillespie is also successful as the coach of Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League and in the Kings XI Punjab.

Ryan Harris was Gillespie’s team mate in South Australia whose career was hampered by injuries and was forced to retire from international cricket in 2015. Harris played 27 Test matches for Australia.
