Eoin Morgan gives Alex Hales hope before the T20 World Cup. The England captain said the doors to the national team have not yet closed for Hales. To play for the country again, this explosive batsman has to gain lost faith. Hales has been out of the national team since March last year. He lost his place in the World Cup team after being caught in a drug test. He was banned for three weeks. After that he was not called in any format anymore. Hales was instrumental in helping England reach the final of the 2016 T20 World Cup. He was also an important member of the ODI team. But the right-handed batsman lost the confidence of everyone in the team after a fight in Bristol and later being caught with drugs. Hales, however, said he was ready to return to the World Cup squad after a stellar performance in franchise-based T20 tournaments. But Morgan doesn't see the option of gaining everyone's trust to return to his national team. The English captain does not know how long it will take for that. “I don't think there is a time limit for regaining faith. It's not just about me, it's about every member of the team, the staff, the selectors,” Morgan said. "Now, it’s May, 11 months ago, the incident happened with Alex (Hales). So I will say, not too long ago. And what happened was detrimental to the team's environment. There is a rift in trust between Alex and the players. So we don't know how long it will take to achieve that. But the door is still open to restore that faith.”
