Handscomb loses weight while batting against Bangladesh
The hot and humid conditions in Bangladesh are proving tough for the visiting batsmen as temperatures in Chittagong reached a moderate top of 31 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
According to reports, Australian batsman Peter Handscomb lost 4.5 Kgs in his two-and-a- half hour stay at the crease in the second Test match against Bangladesh, on Tuesday.
The punishing tropical heat in Chittagong has forced Handscomb to take a time out. It was the humidity that hovered around 80 per cent for most of the day that tested the fitness of the players.
However, the Victorian had ice applied to his head and was given a tablet as batting partner David Warner and Bangladesh’s fielders showed concern for his well-being.
Despite being exhausted, he continued batting along with David Warner and that earned him praise from Australian coach Darren Lehmann.
“Really gutsy, obviously it’s pretty hot out there, we saw that yesterday and you have to work really hard for your runs,” Australia’s coach Darren Lehmann said after the day’s play.
