Harbhajan reacts after Rohit asks him to bowl against Proteas
For a long time, India had been lacking firepower at the top in the red-ball format without the shadow of any doubt. When the team management called up Rohit Sharma to open for the very first time, he impressed everyone by doing justice in his role.
This sums up the essential Rohit Sharma for you! He scored a sensational 176 with the help of 23 fours and 6 hits over the fence. He followed it up with a gritty 127 (10 fours, 7 sixes) in the second innings.
He became the first Indian opener in 41 years to score back-to-back hundreds in a single Test and also went on to break the record for most sixes in a Test i.e.13.
Besides his incredible and crafty batting technique, Rohit Sharma is an interesting character off the field. Be it press conferences, dressing room, he is known for the knack of cracking jokes, chipping in with brilliant touches of humour.
It was on Friday, Rohit Sharma had asked Harbhajan Singh to bowl against South Africa. Rohit Sharma and his teammates had a challenging day at the office with Quinton De Kock and Dean Elgar hunkering themselves at the crease over a course of time.
But Ravi Ashwin was the only effective bowler on that day and his request was heard on the stump mic during the break between overs attempting to call Harbhajan Singh, who was in Hindi commentary section at that time.
“Come in come in Bhajju paa come in. Bhajju paa aapke liye kaafi rough bann chukka hai, idhar aa jaiye thoda ball daaliye (A lot of rough has been created on the pitch, come and bowl for us),” Rohit said.
