Harsha picks India squad for the 2019 WC
Experienced cricket journalist and commentator Harsha Bhogle who analyses every piece of cricketing action has come up with his own team India’s squad for the upcoming World Cup tournament. India has been in rich vein of form in ODI cricket. Powered by Virat Kohli at one end and nurtured by veteran MS Dhoni at the other end, India has by far been the deadly force heading to the mega event.
In fact, everyone would agree with Bhogle’s selection for the top spots as Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are picked as openers with Virat Kohli coming in at the no.3 position. Ambati Rayudu may not have proved his worth as a No.4 batsman but Harsha reckons Rayudu would do well coming in at no.4.
Then comes Kedar Jadhav and Dinesh Karthik. DK was chosen as backup keeper for MS Dhoni, with Hardik Pandya as an all-rounder option. KL Rahul’s name was a surprise inclusion. He has come under fire recently for his poor run of form but still, he was picked up as a backup opener in the squad.
The deadly spin duo Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are the two primary spinners in Harsha’s squad with Ravindra Jadeja being picked up as a potential backup spinner. Harsha Bhogle did not pick Umesh Yadav as an option as he picked only three fast bowlers including the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami.
