Hathurusingha surprised to not visit the Sylhet stadium before

Just few months ago, Chandika Hathurusingha was the head coach of Bangladesh and now he is the coach of Sri Lanka who is battling against Bangladesh. Though Hathurusingha has worked for Bangladesh for 3.5 years, he is yet to see a match in the Sylhet International Stadium.

As the Sylhet International Stadium is new to International cricket, Bangladesh didn’t play in that stadium yet. The former Bangladesh coach regrets for not visiting the stadium as the Bangladesh’s head coach.

In a press conference on Saturday, Hathurusingha said: “I am seeing this stadium for the first time. The wicket is not fully ready now. I have to see the wicket again tomorrow, that’s why I can’t tell much about the wicket today. But the stadium is very beautiful. I am surprised that I didn’t come in this stadium with the Bangladesh team.”

When asked about the practice sessions: “They (Bangladesh) practice in the central wicket in Mirpur. We couldn’t do that. That’s why we wanted this facility here and we came to practice at morning for this.”

Hathurusingha also said that he is satisfied with his team’s performance: “To be honest, the way the players responded, I am very satisfied. I can communicate with them properly and this is one of the reason why I wanted to become the coach of my country. For them also, its becoming easily to communicate and as a result they are responding quickly. I am feeling great as a coach.”
