Hogg picks current best ODI XI, five Indians in the side
Hogg was recently asked to pick 11 players interacting with fans on his Twitter handle. He straightaway picked India opener Rohit Sharma and Australia opener David Warner for the opening slot. Then he selected Virat Kohli for the no. 3 position, also gave him the captaincy of the team.
Hogg left out New Zealand captain and prolific batsman Kane Williamson from the squad. Explaining the reason, he said,
“The two unlucky batsmen are Aaron Finch, who had a wonderful year in 2019 but his conversion rate wasn’t as good as everyone else in that top four. And the other one was Kane Williamson, nearly got in front of Virat Kohli, because he had a better average but it was only a lower strike rate that kept him out of the side.”
Then Hogg picked one of the best batsman of current time, Pakistan’s Babar Azam which made a strong middle-order undoubtedly. The next selection was a no-brainer for Hogg as he selected England’s World Cup winning hero all-rounder Ben Stokes.
Then for the hitting responsibility, Hogg went for England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler. The next selection was a surprise from Hogg as he picked Ravindra Jadeja for the all-rounder spot.
As far as the bowlers are concerned, Babar picked Mitchell Starc, Lockie Ferguson and Mohammed Shami as fast bowlers. Hogg opted for India’s Yuzvendra Chahal as the lone spinner of the side.
