HP end Australia tour with last-over thriller
Liton Das and his side, Bangladesh High Performance XI have won one-off the three-dayer match in last over thriller. With the victory of 21 runs, visiting side have noted another history of their continuous victory in their diary and end the successful Australia tour. Northern Territory Invitational XI were in a comfortable situation at the end of day-2. But, on Saturday, it was hard to find the earlier day’s Northern Territory.
The home side resumed their first innings on third day’s play with 316/3. But, it became tough for the batsmen to score runs against the Tigers bowlers. They used to lose wickets, adding just 36 runs for losing 4 wickets, Northern Territory decided to declare their first innings on 352/7.
Tanbir Hayder bagged two wickets in his bladder for 29 runs while Nihaduzzaman grabbed one wicket for 32 runs.
Bangladesh High Performance XI started their second innings with 40 runs holding back of Northern Territory’s first innings. The visitors eyed on victory and used to play furious cricket from the beginning of their second innings. Bangladesh High Performance XI were looking for quick runs. They were bowled out in the second innings after adding 229 runs on the board.
So, Northern Territory Invitational XI got a small target of 190 runs to catch the elusive victory against the Bangladesh HP XI.
Chasing such a small total, the hosts were found it tough in front of the demolishing bowling effort of Bangladeshi bowlers. In the last over of the match, they were finally restricted on by the visitors bowlers on 168 runs. Hence, they tasted another defeat.
With the note of 21-run victory, Liton Das and his co finished their successful Australia tour.
