Hussey picks Babar Azam as biggest threat for Australia
Former Australia batsman Mike Hussey believes Babar Azam is currently one of the best in the world and will be a big threat in the upcoming Test series against the hosts.
Pakistan’s dynamic batsman has been in top form in all three formats of the game and he has delivered a big statement ahead of the Test series with a scintillating knock of 157 in the practice match.
Former Australian great Mike Hussey hailed Babar as a brilliant batsman and sees him as the upcoming list of the best players in the world.
“It’s been a beautiful innings really. He’s timed the ball magnificently all around the ground. I honestly believe this guy can be in the same conversation when we start talking about the best players in the world.”
“We start talking about (Virat) Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, Joe Root gets floated around. I think if he can start putting together some big hundreds like this in the Test arena, he’s that good … he’s a brilliant, brilliant player.”
Meanwhile, another commentator and former Australia wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist said that Australia coach Justin Langer would have noted the batting troubles
“They’ve certainly been unsettled by the short-pitched bowling. It was Meredith that really stirred the nest and now Richardson from the same end.”
