Apart from Shakib Al Hasan, there are no established senior cricketers in the Bangladesh squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. But Litton Das, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hasan Miraz are not even young now. Batting coach Jamie Siddons describes this team as a young team and is very confident about this team.
Bangladesh are on a tour of New Zealand currently. The Tigers returned from a tour of the United Arab Emirates a few days ago. Temperatures were much higher in Bangladesh and UAE, around 40 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, in New Zealand and Australia, the winter season is going on. Siddons sees it as a big opportunity to be able to play the series in such conditions before going to the World Cup.
Siddons said, "Recently we visited Dubai. We played two matches against UAE. We also had a week of training which was very good. Our team is very young. A number of senior players have retired or are not in the team. I am thrilled with this young team. .They are still learning. Let's see how they fare against two very strong teams."
Commenting on the weather, Siddons added, "We've come here from 40 degrees to this cold weather. It's good to be in these conditions before going to Australia. The conditions are very similar.”
Siddons said about the absence of established senior cricketers from the Bangladesh team and youngsters, "Sabbir and Miraz are opening the innings which is different from Tamim-Litton's opening pairl. Litton is still in the team, he will play at three or four. We don't have some senior players in our team now. But these young cricketers are very energetic.”
