Sri Lanka declared their innings after putting a mammoth score of 713 runs. Losing three wickets before the end of day’s play can be costly for Bangladesh in order to save the Test match. Spinner Taijul Islam believes the same.
After the end of day’s play, Taijul said in the press conference: “It would have been better had we lost one wicket. Three wickets are too many. The wicket deteriorated as the match has progressed and there were some more turn today.”
Taijul added: “There are rough areas that are created as bowlers bowl from different angles. Rough can sometimes make a bad ball into a good one. As a batsman, it will be tough to survive. There is a lot to think, and a lot not to think about. We have to save the game. If our batsmen can survive the fifth day, then we can get something out of it. Batsmen would like to score runs off the bad balls.”
About Sri Lanka’s bowling: “I don’t think they bowled really well. We still made 80-odd runs during this short time. There were some deliveries on good areas, which gave them the three wickets.”
