Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim believes India's chances of winning the T20 World Cup depend on Suryakumar Yadav's form. The middle-order batsman hit 61 runs from 22 balls in the second T20I against South Africa and was in commanding form going into the World Cup.

Former India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter and selector Saba Karim said India's chances of emerging victorious at the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup depended largely on the form of middle-tier star-batter Suryakumar Yadav during the multi -Nation Tournament.
The 2nd-ranked T20I batter has been in tremendous touch lately and has been a match-winner for India on numerous occasions. Surya has hit 793 runs in T20Is in 2022, surpassing Shikhar Dhawan's record for most runs registered by an Indian batter in a single year. He currently has a streak of three consecutive half centuries before the last T20I against South Africa.
The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, the eighth edition of the multinational tournament, is scheduled to be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13.
Team India will be placed in Group 2 of the tournament along with Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh. The Men In Blue will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their tournament opener on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
“Well, one thing I can say – India's chances of winning the World Cup largely depend on Suryakumar Yadav's form and I say that because he is playing in such a difficult position. In the middle overs, in the T20 format, to play with such a high scoring rate is not that easy, but it's that easy for Suryakumar Yadav because of his skill, experience and skill," Karim said.
“He has an uncanny ability to find the gaps in the right areas, sometimes he will bowl and there are several free areas that he can exploit so easily. So yes, Suryakumar Yadav, I hope and pray he does well and continues in this form in the World Cup," he added.
With 801 rating points, Suryakumar is second in the T20I batter rankings, behind only Pakistani wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan (861).
Karim went on to praise the middle-tier star-batter, saying he has "an uncanny ability to find the gaps in the right areas." He also hoped Suryakumar would be at his best during the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
“He has an uncanny ability to find the gaps in the right areas, sometimes he will bowl and there are several free areas that he can exploit so easily. So yes Suryakumar Yadav, I hope and pray he does well and continues that form at the World Cup,” he added.
