Bangladesh cricket team have been going through a very tough times as they have been whitewashed by Afghanistan in a three-match Twenty20 series. They were outplayed by the Afghans in all three department of the game. Although they had lost first two matches miserably, the last game was a tight match where Tigers lost the match by only 1 run.
Four runs were needed in the last and batsman Ariful Hoque went for a big hit but a magnificent piece of fielding by Shafiqullah Shafiq stopped the ball from boundary rope at the very last moment.
However, it was not the first time for Bangladesh to lose a close match as have lost quite a few matches that could have ended in their favour including the two T20I matches against India, one in the ICC World T20 in 2016 group stage that could have eliminated India from the tournament and the final of Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, After losing the series 3-0, Tigers T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan insisted that it might be mental block that is causing to lose tight matches. “I think it is a mental block, which we have not been able to overcome till now,” Shakib was quoted as saying in The Daily Star.
Shakib also explained reason for series lose by admitting that his team failed in all three departments of the game. “Throughout the series, we failed in the three departments, which is the reason for this result,” he added.
