A player of his calibre with exceptional all-round skills, he is surely a perfect T20 material. He was purchased for a record INR 10.5 crore in the IPL 2020 auction. Kings XI Punjab purchased his services and expected him to deliver the goods to justify his price tag.

However, things didn’t work out well for Maxwell. He turned out to be one of the biggest flops of last time where he scored only 108 runs in 13 games at a strike-rate of 101.88. He failed to hit even a single six in the previous IPL season and was on the receiving end of trolls and abuses on social media.

Maxwell expresses his interest to play for RCB

Kings XI Punjab decided that it is best to release him ahead of the IPL 2021 auction. While addressing the media in a virtual press conference before Australia’s T20 series against New Zealand, he was asked whether he was really interested to play for RCB in the cash-rich league. To which, he said he would love to play for RCB.

“That’ll be awesome. AB [is] one of my idols and one of the guys I’ve always tried to watch the way he goes about [things]. It’ll be awesome to work with him, and he’s always been really helpful to me along the journey.

Whenever I’ve caught up with him, he’s been brilliant. So to be able to work with him first hand will be pretty cool. I get along with Virat pretty well. It’ll be certainly nice to work under Virat and will certainly enjoy batting with him – that’s for sure,” he added.
