ICC denies rumours on T20 World Cup 2020
International Cricket Council (ICC) recently confirmed that ICC T20 World Cup 2020 will go as per schedule in October this year, as there is no change made in the event upto now.
The outbreak of COVID-19 has disturbed the entire world at the moment and the whole world is fighting against a common enemy at the moment. The no.of. affected people all the world has gone over one million with more than 65000 deaths at the moment.
Due to this outbreak, the sporting world is also highly affected and so the game between bat and ball. At the moment, many International series is postponed and cancelled. The biggest T20 league, Indian Premier League is also postponed up to now.
On the row, ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2020 is also suspected to be affected by the virus outbreak which is scheduled to be played in Australia in October. There are some rumours going around the event that it won’t happen this year and it might be postponed to 2022.
ICC releases a statement
Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council recently confirmed that there is no decision taken up to now to postpone the event and the event will go as per schedule now. They are monitoring the situation with the organizing committee and the needed decisions will be taken in future according to the conditions in Australia.
“In response to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Local Organising Committee is monitoring the situation closely with relevant authorities and will continue to do so,” ICC had said in the statement. “The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from 18 October – 15 November 2020 in seven venues across Australia. We are planning for the event to go ahead as scheduled,” ICC stated.
