ICC looking for alternative Venue for T20 World Cup 2014
This is not news that, Bangladesh is the venue for the T20 World Cup 2014. This was news about 4 years ago. By this time everything should be prepared. But there is hardly any sign that something like that is going to be happened in Bangladesh a year later. A visitor of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has visited Bangladesh recently. He was quite dissatisfied about the sloth movement of the arrangement. He reported about what he had seen. ICC is now having the thought of keeping an alternative venue to arrange the world cup.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon had to face the journalists while he came to the Indoor Free Hit Cricket Tournament as the guest of honor. He said, “The adviser who visited Bangladesh recently wasn’t completely happy. So ICC discussed about the alternative venue in the meeting, which will be discussed later. We have to make them realized that there is no need for the alternative or reserve venue. We can do it with what we have. The greatest challenge is to prepare the Sylhet stadium. The visitor found the venue in the same position that was found the last time it was visited. No real problem exists with the Coxbazar venue, since it will be prepared by our money.”
He later also gave a happy news, “there was a sort of a good news. The preparation of the venue in Sylhet has been started up. I had a talk with the Finance and the Sports Minister two days ago. They assured us that, we will get whatever budget we need. Therefore, in August when they come we hope we can make them satisfied.”
ICC has the thought of the alternative venue , because for the T-20 world cup there must be minimum of four venues prepared. The four venues that Bangladesh showed before, Sylhet was amongst one of them. Since one of the main venue is getting prepared in ‘Turtle speed’ ICC is thinking to have an alternative venue.
