I’d want my sister to marry Stokes: Swann’s cheeky tweet after heroic knock
Ben Stokes turned out to be the hero for England once again as he pulled off a thrilling win for the hosts with the last man in the wicket.
In a standout contest in the third Ashes Test, England came out winning by 1 wicket chasing a record margin of 358 runs in day four of the match.
Stokes was there till the triumph with a 135 runs, hit the winning score as well. For England, Jack Leach also accomplished his part with great compassion, accompanying Stokes to keep the hosts’ dream alive.
England needed 73 more runs to reach to the victory target when the last man Jack Leach came into bat.
Together they defied all odds, keeping the ancient contest in track for coming matches. With what could be termed as one of the best innings played in the history of Test cricket, Stokes’ outrageous shot making pulled the win from Australia’s mouth.
Stokes hit eight sixes and 11 fours on his way to 135 while Leach survived 17 deliveries for his single run.
Earlier in the day, England resumed on 156-3, with skipper Joe Root was unbeaten at the score of 75 after sharing a partnership of 126 in 53 overs with Joe Denly (50) on Saturday. The win saw England level the five-Test series at 1-1.
Meanwhile, former English spinner Graeme Swann posted a hilarious tweet after Stokes’ heroic knock. He insisted that he would have wanted her sister to marry the all-rounder if he had any.
