“I’m a big fan of Dhoni’s innovations” says Rishab Pant
Indian young wicket-keeper batsman Rishab Pant has termed that he was a big fan of the innovations of his team’s veteran MS Dhoni on the field.
Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishab Panting is having some quality times as a proper wicket-keeper batsman for India in the longest version of the game and he stays as an answer for India’s long-term search for that position since MS Dhoni’s retirement from Test cricket.
Subsequently, Rishab Pant also replaces the veteran wicket-keeper in T20I format too as Pant had been made as the wicket-keeper for the last two series against Windies and Australia, dropping MS Dhoni.
The young wicket-keeper had a good time with the gloves in Adelaide as he took a sum of eleven catches in the match and equaled the record for most no. of catches taken in a Test match.
“As a wicket-keeper, I used to see the innovation he had in the early days,” Pant said in an interview on bcci.tv after claiming an India record 11 catches in just his sixth Test. “That’s why I’m attracted to him, (because) of the innovation he (brings) to Indian cricket.
“I’ve learnt a lot from him as a person and as a cricketer. Whenever he’s around, I feel more confident as a person. If I’ve got any problems I can share it with him and get a solution right away.”
Further talking about the record he made in Adelaide, Pant said, “I never thought of the record but it’s good to take some catches and put it inside my kitty. It’s good to have milestones, but I’m not thinking about that too much.”
