I’m lucky to have KG and Nortje in the team: Shreyas Iyer
Chennai Super Kings registered fourth-biggest defeat in the history of Indian Premier League after surrendering at the hands of Delhi Capitals in their third game of this season’s IPL. CSK were left clueless most of the times by DC in all aspects of the game. MS Dhoni-led team lost the game by 44 runs.
Prithvi Shaw was the Player of the Match for his stellar batting display against CSK. The right-handed batsman scored 64 off 43 with the help of 9 fours and a six as he helped his team lay a perfect platform in team’s total of 175/3 in 20 overs. At the post-match presentation, Prithvi Shaw said that he got better this time around when he made silly mistakes last year.
Shaw further went on to add saying that he would want to see the highlights of his knock and learn how he went about his business. “In the start you have to see how the wicket is, playing along the ground is more important. I was striking the ball well last year as well, but I was making silly mistakes. This time I decided to play more ground shots. I would like to see the highlights of my knock and understand how it went and what I could do. The wicket was nice to bat on,” Shaw added.
I am lucky to have Rabada and Nortje: Shreyas Iyer
Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer couldn’t have asked for better team performance against CSK. The winning captain was completely pleased with his team’s victory over MS Dhoni-led team. At the post-match presentation, Shreyas Iyer said that he was happy with the performance of the team. He was impressed with 94-run-stand for the opening wicket shared by Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan.
Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for Delhi Capitals. The South African international picked three wickets to his name while another South African international Anrich Nortje picked two wickets. Shreyas Iyer went on to add saying how lucky he is to have Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje in the same team.
“I am really happy with the performance. I would give them the benefit of doubt, is tough to catch in these conditions. You misjudge the ball, really don’t know how to pace yourself. In the team meeting, we decided that we are going to assess the batting conditions early and then play accordingly. The way the openers started gave us a lot of confidence and the finish was good too. I am lucky to have KG and Nortje in the team. It’s important to stick together as a team and we need to enjoy each other’s success,” he added.
With two wins in two games, Delhi Capitals move to the top of the points table. Delhi Capitals will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 29, Tuesday at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
