Imran topples Liton to get hands on great domestic record

Run-machine Tushar Imran has toppled Liton Kumar Das to claim a new record of Bangladesh domestic cricket. It is Liton who previously held the record of scoring most runs in a first-class season with 1,232 runs to his name. But by scoring 1,249 runs in the recently concluded 2016-17 season, Imran is now the proud holder of this great record.

On Wednesday at the number 3 ground in BKSP, Imran was trailing by just 12 runs to see Liton’s record off. After Central Zone were skittled out for 415 runs in their first innings, South Zone openers Imran and Nahidul Islam came to bat. By playing a quickfire knock of 28* runs off just 12 balls with the help of 5 fours and one wix, Imran quite successfully got his hands on the record. [Read also: North Zone emerge BCL champions]

Imran’s 1,249 runs this season came from the National Cricket League (NCL) and Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL). Now he also owns the record of playing most number of matches, scoring most runs and smashing highest number of centuries in Bangladesh’s domestic first-class cricket. He has also become the highest run getter of the 5th edition of BCL, having scored 731 runs in 9 innings of 6 matches at an average of 91.37, with his highest score being 220 runs.
