At the first day’s practice he went through the prescribed rehabilitation process. He ran couple of rounds in the academy field of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), then he did a successful gym session where he worked on cycling and did other necessary fitness skills. After completing the gym session, this cricket met and talked with the media about his recent condition.
Imrul Kayes told that he didn’t feel pain while running and cycling that means he is going to recover well. “I don’t have any pain. It does not hurt like before. I ran a bit today. I did some cycling as well. I don’t have any kind of pain. I spoke to the doctor as well. The Test is on the ninth. I think I will be fine before the start of the game,”
He gave an diplomatic answer after asking whether he would be able to play in the upcoming warm up match prior to the one-off Test match against India. He replied, “Whether I will play the practice match or not will depend upon my physio. If the physio gives the management a good sign, then maybe I will be able to play the tour. If I don’t get selected, then that’s a different issue. But other than that, I will play if the physio deems me fit.”
Imrul Kayes also admired that nobody including him would like to miss the golden chance to play a historic Test match like that. He showed his excitement about the upcoming Test match and informed, “Everybody is looking forward to the India series. We don’t get to play that often over there… we don’t get too many chances. Everyone wants a golden chance like this. Me and everyone else… we are all excited about this series.”
Although Imrul Kayes is recovering well and having enough times in hand to get full fitness, there are some uncertainty about his play in the upcoming Test match as Bangladesh Cricket Board’s sports physician Debashish Chowdhury made an interesting statement that his pain could return since it was a muscle injury! To be noted, Bangladesh cricket team will fly to India on 2 February while One-off the historic Test match against India is slated to play in Hyderabad from 9 February.
