India bound players shine on first day in NCL

The fourth round of National Cricket League (NCL) is underway. India bound players Ebadot Hossain and Shadman Islam had a delightful opening day for their respective teams in tier 2.

Shadman Islam and Ebadot Hossain both are included in the Test squad for India tour. They looked in terrific touch in the opening day of the fourth round.

Dhaka Metropolis are in a commanding position on the opening day after winning the toss, thanks to opener Shadman Islam. Though Azmir Ahmed departed for a duck, Shadman built a solid partnership afterwards with Shamsur Rahman, who scored exactly 50.

But Shadman didn’t stop there. He then went to build partnerships with Marshall Ayub (40) and Al-Amin (83) as well. The dynamic opening batsman remained unbeaten in the end after scoring a spectacular hundred. He remained unbeaten on 162* from 257 to leave Dhaka to a massive total of 357 with the loss of only 4 wickets in the opening day.

Meanwhile, in the other game of tier 2, Barishal Divison were absolutely outclassed by the Sylhet bowlers in the opening day. They bowled out for only 162 runs courtesy of Ebadot Hossain’s fifer. Nasum Ahmed also had a brilliant day as he picked up three wickets while Enamul Haque and Abu Jayed picked up one each.

Sylhet started off well with the bat as well courtesy of a brilliant start from the openers Imtiaz Hossain and Shanaj Ahmed. They put 78 runs in the opening stand before Imtiaz departed for a well-made 48. Shanaj see off the day along with Enamul leaving Sylhet on 82 with the loss of only one wicket.
