India to play day-night Test in Adelaide later this year

India are all set to play their first day-night Test outside their home with the match against Australia at the Adelaide Oval later this year. This will be the first big task for both teams in the post COVID-19 era of cricket.

The four-match Test series is scheduled to start from the first week of December this year. The first match of the series will be held in Brisbane while the last two matches of the series will be played at Melbourne and Sydney. The second match will be day-night Test.

Cricket Australia (CA) will announce the schedule for 2020-21 season later this week. However, although the venues are confirmed for the Tests, there’s much uncertainty about series as all things will be depending on how the Covid-19 situation develops over the next few months.

Regardless of whether there is any opportunity of audience being available at matches throughout the summer will rely upon improvements at government level with respect to mass gatherings.

Australia’s Test season is likely to start at the WACA with the match against Afghanistan. This will be the first time Australia will play against Afghanistan in Test cricket. And more surprisingly, Test matches will be back at WACA after a long three years.
