India Under-23 captain Priyam Garg hospitalized after being hit in the neck


In a shocking incident during a Duleep Trophy 2019 match, Indian Green’s cricketer Priyam Garg was rushed to hospital after being hit straight in the neck on day four of his side’s match against India Red at Alur Cricket Ground in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The accident occurred on the last ball of the 138th over of India Red’s innings.

During the bowling of Rahul Chahar, Priyam was fielding at silly point, fall in the line of the ball even after trying to get away from a back foot punch by Avesh Khan.

Priyam was wearing a neck guard that might lessen the impact of the injury. He did not fall unconscious.

The team physio immediately took care of the 18-year old in the field and applied an ice-pack to the injured area.

As a precaution, a state association official said he was taken to hospital to run concussion tests.

Garg, has been named captain of the India Under-23 squad to face Bangladesh Under-23s for five one-day matches in Raipur this month,

Meanwhile, Avesh Khan’s who hit two boundaries and sever sixes, reached into his maiden first-class half-century helped India Red take a one-run lead over India Green.

Avesh’s added 73 runs in the tenth wicket partnership with Sandeep Warrier on his way to 56-ball 64.

Earlier on day three, Mahipal Lomror scored a fine hundred in the first innings as India Red ended the day at 404/9, trailing India Green by 36 runs.

Mahipal top scored with 126 runs, hit 14 fours and three sixes in his 272-ball stay.
