India vs Australia: Selectors to pick the T20I and ODI squad this week

After losing the three-match T20I series against New Zealand, the Indian team is enjoying their break. India’s next assignment is two T20Is and a five-match ODI series against Australia. The series against Australia starts from February 24. According to the reports, the squad for the Australia series will be finalized based on the workloads of the players.

The Indian team opener, Rohit Sharma is likely to be rested for the Australia series. Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested the ODI and T20I series against New Zealand, might play against Australia.

‘Workload management of the senior players will definitely be the main area of discussion as we all know that the Indians have been on the road and the selectors and team management have made a conscious effort to ensure that the players get ample rest between games and series. Like you saw, regular skipper Virat Kohli was rested for the back end of the New Zealand series. You might see Rohit Sharma rested for some games here,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by Times Now.

“But it is also important to note that the Indians would want to keep the foot on the pedal and ensure that they don’t give the Australians any momentum going into the World Cup. A good series against India would mean a confidence booster for the team. So, there has to be a balance so that the composition of the team is not affected,” the source further added.

The two-match T20I series and the five-match ODI series starts from February 24 and March 2 respectively.
