India vs South Africa 1st ODI: Probable XIs
India will look for a fresh start in the first ODI against South Africa in Dharamsala on Thursday (March 12), putting behind the nightmares of the New Zealand tour.
Doing so should be easier for Team India, as they will be boosted by the returns of Hardik Pandya, Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar following injury lay-offs.
However, the two participating teams are coming to this series with contrasting recent forms. While India had to endure a 0-3 ODI series whitewash against the Black Caps, South Africa are coming from a dominating 3-0 clean sweep to Australia.
According to reports, there are slight chances of rain to intervene in the match that but it will not affect the length of the match. The wind will be blowing at a rate of 11 and 17 km/hr whereas the temperature will hover between 8 and 13 Degree Celsius.
Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association’s director Sanjay Sharma on Wednesday said that there is some concern related to the weather, but added the state association is fully equipped to deal with the challenge.
“Definitely, there is a concern related to the weather. Forecasts indicate that it is likely to rain tomorrow here, but the association is fully equipped and prepared. The drainage system is in place, we can start the match after 30 minutes as soon as the rain stops. We have taken all the necessary precautions, we are hopeful of having a good match here,” he said.
The two teams have so far played 84 matches, with India winning 35 and South Africa 46. This game can be a memorable one for Virat Kohli, as he is 133 runs away from beating Sachin Tendulkar’s record of being the fastest batsman to reach 12,000 ODI runs. It is also high time the charismatic batsman went back to form.
The match will roll onto the ground from 1.30 PM IST. The match can be watched live on Star Sports 1 and Star Sports 1 HD, while Hotstar will also stream the match live online.
